Service Desk Tech

Job Location – Melbourne, FL

Type – 3 Month Contract

Rate – $28.00 – $30.00 p/h

Our client, an American defense contractor that designs and manufactures unmanned aerial vehicles, is looking to hire an Information Systems Specialist / Service Desk Technician for their Brevard County location in Melbourne, FL.


The Information Systems Specialist is part of the DBT- Desk Team and is the direct support for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of desktop and laptop computers, printers, and network services. This is an entry-level position and the first point of contact for users who contact the Service Desk team through phone, email, and ticketing systems to ensure that users receive appropriate assistance, status updates, and resolution in a timely manner or escalation to the proper support team. Assists in the installation, implementation, and upgrades of internal systems and applications.

Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily Service Desk activities: fields incoming requests and incidents while monitoring ticketing system to resolve technical issues. Also providing support to both remote and onsite users, VPN, Microsoft Office, Windows and Mac OS support, iPhones, tablets, network printers, and any company standard software
  • Escalates advanced issues to appropriate team members or other teams. Notifies user of escalation through status updates
  • Provisioning Windows and Mac systems, deploying new employee hardware and gathering off-boarded employee equipment
  • Provides support for on-site/off-site meetings, conference rooms, and audio/video-related events
  • Performs hardware support including installation of hardware and software, troubleshooting and warranty repairs of computer systems, with the responsibility of inventory tracking of new and used equipment in addition to e-waste
  • Use of industry standards. Applies company policies and procedures to resolve the routine issue and normally receives detailed instructions on all work. Works on assignments tasked by the Service Desk Supervisor
  • Works on problems of limited scope and articulates issues and need for guidance, as applicable
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Minimum 1 – 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Has a solid understanding of the Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office and computer hardware, Mac and iOS experience would be a plus
  • Demonstrates strong customer service skills for phone support and face-to-face interactions
  • Effective, clear, and concise written and verbal communication skills. Articulates solutions in an effective and cohesive manner

Physical Demands

  • Required to work onsite daily
  • Required to stand and sit for long periods
