Engineering Manager – Mobile SDK’s

Job Location – Remote

Type – Contract to Hire

Pay Rate – $100.00 Per Hour

W2 Candidates Only

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Mobile SDK team. This team is responsible for developing the tools that bring magnetic positioning technology to developers worldwide. As the owner of the Android and iOS SDKs, as well as our first-party mobile applications, you will play a pivotal role in showcasing and validating our core technology.

This is a fully remote role, open to US-based candidates, managing a distributed team across North America and Europe. Success in this role requires comfort with asynchronous communication, building and maintaining team culture across time zones, and upholding engineering excellence without co-location.

Key Responsibilities

  • SDK Delivery & Product Ownership
  • Own the roadmap, development, and release of mobile SDKs for Android and iOS.
  • Collaborate with Product and Business Development to understand developer needs and prioritize features that drive SDK adoption.
  • Establish and maintain release processes that balance velocity with stability, ensuring partners receive reliable, well-documented releases.
  • Define and track SDK adoption metrics, integration success rates, and developer satisfaction.

Technical Leadership:

  • Set technical direction for mobile SDK architecture, emphasizing clean APIs, backward compatibility, and performance optimization.
  • Drive code quality through rigorous code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration/delivery improvements.
  • Ensure SDK performance, focusing on battery consumption, memory footprint, and positioning accuracy to maintain developer trust.
  • Collaborate with the core positioning algorithms team to translate research advances into production-ready SDK features.

Team Management

  • Lead and grow a distributed team of mobile engineers across North America and Europe.
  • Hire, mentor, and develop engineers to build a high-performing team.
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and career development conversations.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive team culture that thrives across time zones.

Developer Experience

  • Champion the external developer experience, ensuring documentation, sample code, and integration guides are top-notch.
  • Work closely with Developer Relations to gather feedback from partners and continuously improve the integration experience.
  • Ensure first-party apps serve as best-practice examples for SDK usage.

What We’re Looking For – Required Qualifications:

  • US citizenship (required).
  • 8+ years of engineering management experience, including managing distributed/remote teams.
  • Strong background in mobile development (Android and/or iOS) with experience shipping SDKs or developer tools.
  • Experience managing teams across multiple time zones (North America and Europe overlap required).
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software on predictable schedules.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience building and maintaining mobile SDKs consumed by external developers.
  • Familiarity with positioning technologies, sensor fusion, or location-based services.
  • Experience with performance optimization for battery-constrained mobile applications.
  • 4+ years of experience at an early-stage startup.
  • Background in developer experience, API design, or platform engineering.
  • Proficiency in Ukrainian is a plus.

How We Work

  • Fully Remote: Work from anywhere in the US or Canada, joining a distributed team across the continent.
  • Async-First Culture: We prioritize written communication, document decisions, and respect focus time. Meetings are purposeful and intentional.
  • Overlap Hours: We request reasonable overlap with both US and European team members, typically late morning US Eastern and afternoon Central European time.
  • Travel: Occasional travel (2-4 times per year) for team offsites and company gatherings.

If you are excited to lead a world-class engineering team, drive the future of mobile SDKs, and shape the next generation of positioning technology, we encourage you to apply. Be part of a team that is building innovative solutions where GPS fails and developers need reliable, high-performance location intelligence.
