We are seeking a resourceful and detail-oriented individual to join our team in an innovative, hybrid role: primarily as an ASL Interpreter, with additional responsibilities in administrative assistance. This full-time position is centered around ensuring comprehensive communication support through American Sign Language for a team member who is Deaf, supplemented by managing and streamlining executive schedules and project tasks within our program management framework.
This unique role is designed for a highly motivated individual who excels in both language interpretation and administrative organization, offering a central role in fostering an inclusive and efficient professional environment. Job Responsibilities / Typical Day in the Role
ASL Interpretation (Primary/Priority Duty):
- Provide precise and confidential ASL interpretation services during all applicable organizational interactions involving a designated team member, including meetings, presentations, and informal communications.
- Act as the chief facilitator of communication for our team member who is Deaf, ensuring accessibility and inclusion in all professional settings.
- Proactively prepare for engagements by researching and understanding specific sector or technical vocabularies needed for scheduled interpretation sessions.
Administrative Assistant (Secondary Duty):
- Organize and maintain calendar schedules for 2 VPs, prioritizing optimal organization of their commitments.
- Arrange logistical details for meetings, including coordination of spaces, and provision of prerequisite materials.
- Handle confidential documentation and communications with discretion.
- Act as a point of contact among executives, staff, and external stakeholders.
Note on Prioritization: In the event of scheduling conflicts or overlapping demands, ASL interpretation responsibilities will take precedence, ensuring no disruption in accessibility services for our team member.
Must Have Skills / Requirements
- Certification in American Sign Language interpretation from a recognized body (e.g., Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf or equivalent).
- Demonstrate strict adherence to the interpreter’s code of conduct and professional ethics.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information exchanged in an interpreting situation.
- Demonstrate a continuous commitment to professionalism, punctuality, and reliability.
- Provide excellent ASL/English interpretation services professionally and competently within a variety of settings, registers, and formats:
- Potential for multiple participants via video and any number of participants in the same room
- Planned services (conferences and VRI)
- Potential for multiple participants via video and any number of participants in the same room
- Onsite meetings (when applicable)
- Subject matter ranging from light daily assignments to highly complex business, education, marketing, technology strategies, and solutions
- Teaming with other interpreters
- Wide range of topics and other unique settings
- High level of adaptability for working with diverse populations, as well as leveraging various models of onsite, remote, and team interpreting
- Proven background in managing executive schedules or similar administrative roles.
- Familiarity with project, program, or management processes.
- Exceptional organizational capabilities with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Education / Certifications
- Two years consecutive experience interpreting professionally as a Sign Language Interpreter is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communication, or related field is preferred.
